Deacon Paul O'Connor

Deacon Paul took over reins as chair of the management committee in December 2019
Passion for Harvington is evident and has brought a new lease of life to the Hall, ensuring that Harvington is a tourist attraction like no other of its kind, and has a key role in telling a history that is often forgotten… Catholic persecution. His interest has also made sure the Hall is at the heart of the local community, a place where people can enjoy its beautiful surroundings
As well as being chair of the Hall’s Management Committee, Deacon Paul is the Archdiocese of Birmingham’s head of planning, the diocese’s health and safety coordinator. He is responsible for administering the faculty system for the approval of works to all diocesan churches, is the head of regeneration, and has responsibility in two Worcester parishes.
Deacon Paul has a wealth of managerial and heritage experience, as he was head of planning at Worcester City Council for many years, where his responsibilities included heritage, conservation and archaeology.

Phil Downing

Phil became the Hall manager in March 2020
Fulfilling a lifelong dream, Phil’s connection with the Hall began 20 years ago, when he first visited as a 17-year-old. From that moment Harvington captured his heart, not only for its striking beauty, but for the stories it holds and the history it represents.
Phil’s passion for history, and for Harvington Hall in particular, is truly infectious. He shares his deep knowledge and enthusiasm through regular talks for historical societies, inspiring others to discover the Hall’s remarkable past.
Under his management Harvington Hall continues to thrive as a well-loved tourist attraction, place of learning, intrigue and devotion.

James Brogan

James Brogan started his journey with Harvington Hall over 15yrs ago as a volunteer, joining with his grandmother and taking part in the reenactment group.
In 2017, he stepped into a staff role as weekend duty manager and since become an integral part of the team.

Now Assistant Manager, James handles everything from managing the Hall’s accounts to tackling the less glamourous tasks – like unblocking drains! He continues to be active in the reenactment team, plays a key role in organising events, and leads our schools programme, delivering many of the educational sessions himself.

Jo Hallington

Jo first joined Harvington Hall in 2022 as a volunteer, helping with administrative enquiries after being a regular visitor to the coffee shop and gardens.
In 2023, she became Project Officer, taking on responsibilities such as bid writing, managing projects, coordinating group bookings, and overseeing volunteer rotas.
In a short time, Jo has already made a significant impact—securing funding for the upcoming 2025 wall painting project, among others. She’s quickly become a valued and essential member of the team.

Volunteers

As a charity, Harvington relies on the hard work and dedication of its volunteers. They are the heartbeat of the Hall and without them Harvington wouldn’t be the success that it is.
Our volunteers range from all ages and backgrounds, but they all have one main thing in common: a real love and passion for the Hall.

Volunteering opportunities are endless. Our gardeners keep the Halls’ flower beds looking colourful and tidy all year round; our shop and front of house volunteers love to welcome visitors with a smile.

Harvington has an amazingly unique story to tell, and we are looking for enthusiastic individuals to help bring that story to life for our visitors. The Hall has a fantastic reputation for delivering exceptional guided tours that are a vital part of the visitor experience. We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic guides to join our team!

Harvington is extremely lucky to have its own in-house costumed re-enactment group called the ‘Harvington Household’. The Household gives an invaluable experience with its vast knowledge and expertise, ensuring our visitors are treated to exceptional living history events.
